BFT Netiquette "Rules"
- Do not email during instructional time.
- Do not distribute any information which is political, slanderous, defamatory, libelous, or in any way critical of
School Board of Brevard County or any of its employees. - Do not use any student names in any emails.
- Do not use school email for membership recruitment.
- Do not forward jokes.
- Do not use all capital letters in your emails; it’s considered shouting.
- Do not send attachments that are not educationally related.
- School email cannot be used in any way for BFT elections.
- Do not email personal or sensitive material.
- Remember, email, even to BFT, if on a school computer, is public record.
2007-08 Contract Language regarding the use of Email

"The Acceptable Use Agreement for the use of the School Board of
Brevard County’s electronic mail system shall be effective for the
2006-2007 school year:
The Brevard Federation of Teachers, hereinafter referred to as“BFT,” may have the use of the School Board of Brevard County,
hereinafter referred to as “SBBC,” electronic mail system for the
purpose of informing members of the bargaining unit of scheduled
meetings and implementing the collective bargaining agreement.
Should any employee, whether a member or a non-member,
request the BFT cease sending them electronic mail
communications, BFT shall immediately remove that employee’s
name from the distribution list and shall not send the employee any
further electronic communications. BFT shall comply with all
applicable federal, state and local laws and SBBC policies regarding
the use of such systems. All communications shall be during noninstructional
time.
The electronic mail system shall not be used for the distribution of
information which is political, slanderous, defamatory, libelous, or
in any way critical of SBBC, the Superintendent or any
administrator or other employee of the School Board. It shall not
be used for solicitation of non-members or for materials related to
internal election of BFT officers. Should BFT or its representative,
acting on behalf of BFT, violate the terms of the agreement, the
Superintendent shall have authority to suspend the right to use the
electronic system."
