How do I become a member of Brevard Federation of Teachers?

It's very simple. There are 4 easy ways to become a member.

• Contact your Building REP at school and request a membership application.
• Call the office (321-636-3323) and request a membership application to be sent to your worksite or to your home.
• Email Janet Eastman at janet@bftteach.org and request a membership application.

• You can download the membership application. Mail the application to:

Cost of membership - Dues

Dues for the 2007 -08 school year.

21 pays - $30.00 per pay date
26 pays - $24.23 per pay date
21 pays (PT*) - $19.40 per pay date
26 pays (PT*) - $17.02 per pay date
*PT - part time

BFT dues are calculated per school year based on the beginning teacher salary.

DUES ARE TAX DEDUCTIBLE!
When you become a member of the Brevard Federation of Teachers (BFT), you become a member of the Florida Education Association (FEA), the American Federation of Teachers (AFT), the National Education Association (NEA), and the AFL-CIO for one low fee.

Florida Statute 447.401 Grievance Procedures states: "All public employees shall have the right to a fair and equitable grievance procedure administered without regard to membership or nonmembership in any organization, except that certified employee organizations shall not be required to process grievances for employees who are not members of the organization." BFT is not required to represent teachers who are not members of our organization.
